What is this game?

Playfulo Othello uses standard 8×8 reversi-style rules. Sandwich opponent discs to flip them. Whoever has more discs at the end wins.

Play against AI or a friend with no sign-up. Empty squares do not count as points.

How to play

The game starts with four center discs. Black moves first. Flank opponent discs in a straight line to flip them.

  • You may only play on a square that flips at least one disc.
  • If you have no legal move, you pass.
  • The game ends when neither side can move or the board is full.
  • The player with more discs on the board wins. Empty squares are not scored.

Controls

  • Tap a highlighted legal square; all bracketed discs flip automatically in every direction.
  • If no legal move exists, the turn passes automatically. The game is counted as soon as neither side can move.
  • Choose AI difficulty for solo play or share a room link for a friend match.

Strategy tips

  • Early disc count matters less than mobility, so preserve several legal moves.
  • Corners are permanent. Be cautious with the adjacent X- and C-squares that may give a corner away.
  • In the endgame, count empty squares, aim for move parity, and stabilize a full edge.

Difficulty differences

Easy often prefers moves that flip many discs immediately. Normal also values corners and mobility. Hard looks further into endgame sequences and dangerous corner-adjacent squares.

Common beginner mistakes

  • Grabbing every flip early often leaves you with no safe moves later.
  • Playing X/C squares next to corners can hand the corner to your opponent.
  • A pass is not the end — count empty-square parity for the endgame.
