What is this game?

Playfulo Go is casual 19×19 baduk. Practice against AI or invite a friend with no sign-up.

The board appears first; the AI loads in the background. Captures, simple ko, and no suicide. After two passes we use Chinese-area scoring with 7.5 komi.

Practice rules may differ from tournament Japanese scoring or handicap games.

How to play

Black moves first. Capture by filling the last liberty. After consecutive passes, we score the board.

  • The board is 19×19. Stones go on intersections.
  • Simple ko forbids immediate recapture. Suicide is illegal.
  • Pass and resign are available. Easy / normal / hard practice AI and friend invite matches.
  • Score = stones + singly enclosed empty points (Chinese-area). White gets 7.5 komi.

Controls

  • Click an empty intersection once with a mouse. On touch, select a point and tap it again to confirm.
  • Use Pass or Resign to finish; after consecutive passes we apply casual Chinese-area scoring.
  • The board appears first while the AI loads; status shows when it is ready.

Strategy tips

  • Secure influence near corners and sides early; save or capture groups in atari immediately.
  • Avoid filling your own eyes; pressure weak stones and look for ko fights.
  • Before passing, clean sure territory rather than chasing every dame.

Difficulty differences

Practice AI has easy, normal, and hard. Easy picks loosely among candidates, normal among top picks, hard takes the heuristic best move. A stronger neural engine can replace the same deferred-load slot later.

Common beginner mistakes

  • Leaving a group in atari for one more move often costs the whole group.
  • Filling your own eyes or dumping stones into finished territory loses points.
  • Ignoring corners early wastes efficiency — take corner influence first.
